Bin Lu – Head Coach
Bin Lu was formerly the head coach of the
Sichuan Physical University Fencing Team in Sichuan,
China.
In 1993 one of his students was World Junior Epee Champion. Bin coached many
medalists and finalists in China’s
national championships. Bin Lu was the Chinese Men’s National Champion
and the Asian Games Champion. Bin was also a member of the Chinese national
team. Bin holds a degree in Physical Education from Sichuan University
Kerry Swick – Coach and BFCC
Facility Manager
Kerry has been fencing since 1971 starting
at Brentwood High
School in New York.
He has competed at all levels of competition including World Cup International
competitions in Epee. His
competitive accomplishments include member of the Santelli Epee team,
Nationally and world ranked epee fencer from 1987-1988, and a member of the
1987 Olympic Festival team. He is currently a member of the National
Tournament Staff and a national delegate from the MD division of the
USFA. Kerry teaches all squires classes and provides private instruction
to those fencers wishing to go beyond the traditional class instruction.
Kerry’s current focus is to develop his coaching staff and establish one
of the most competitive clubs in Maryland
supporting all levels of fencers.
The recreational fencer is as important to us as the seriously
competitive fencer. After all having fun is what it is all about. He currently provides instruction for
all three weapons. Kerry took the
reins of SFC in January of 2006 after working with Jamie Met for many years.

Jamie Met – Assistant
Coach and founder of the Slayton Fencing Club
Jamie is a nationally ranked director for
the USFA. He started fencing competitively in 1990 at Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State
University. In
1995, he was Mid-Atlantic College Fencing Association (MACFA) coach of the
year. Jamie also coached at St.
Johns College
in Annapolis.
His preferred weapon is the saber. Jamie teaches technique in Beginner,
Intermediate, Intermediate II, and Advanced classes. Jamie provides
individual lessons during the Advanced classes. Jamie founded SFC in the fall of 1999.

Russell Paul Cain –
Instructor
Russ has been with the Columbia club since its inception. He started
fencing for recreation in 1981 at the University of Virginia
and has fenced on and off since then. He leads the Adult Beginner 1, Adult
Beginner 2, and Level 2 foil classes. He has successfully completed Level
1 Instructor training in Foil and Saber at the USFA National Coaching
Development Program's Coaches' College. Russ maintains current Red Cross
certification on CPR, AED, and Sport Medicine.
Dave Griffin - Coach
Dave Griffin assists with
developing competitive fencers. He has been fencing since 1971. His collegiate
resume includes coaching at both Clemson
University and the University of Maryland.
He has coached two All-American epee fencers. He has also had a top US finisher in
a women’s epee NAC. He currently also serves at the epee coach for the
team at the University
of Maryland.
Assistants
Jon Wittig is a founding member of the BFC club, Jon is a very experienced competitor and
coach.
Jeff Biggs has been with Slayton Fencing Club for 4 years. He assists Kerry, Jamie, and Russ with the Squires and Adult classes. Jeff fences foil and epee,
but really excels at hauling the club's equipment around and photographing.
Several other fencers provide support and during
summer and winter breaks, past SFC alumni return from college and are
encouraged to participate in the advanced classes.
